I just returned from Judson University and talking about my work with their art and architecture students. The two departments share the largest building on campus, which was designed by Alan Short. The  hospitality was excellent, as was the CIVA CODEX VII in the gallery. This week I’m traveling back to the midwest for the [...]

Sirius Art Centre Residency, Trip 2

Trip 2: That would be to the island I look at all day: Spike Island or Island of the Fox. From what I could make of the tour, it seems just about every side has been locked up or buried there at some point: the monks, those starving during the potato famine, the British, the [...]

Who the #$&% Is Ellsworth Kelly?

Why was Ellsworth Kelly’s Red/Blue for sale at the local re-use center? More importantly, why did the owner double-matte this screenprint with pastel blue and mauve (or why did the frame shop let them)?  Two questions and one nod to Teri Horton.

NYC Round Up

I went down to NYC for a short trip to see Portable Caves (which is up until Feb. 26th) … and to run around Brooklyn.  In the galleries, I was excited to see more interdisciplinary work that questions place… and includes lots of drawing.
